out sidecast, a short episode about one thing.

Or in this case, two related bits of news.

We have the results of the SAG after a strike authorization vote, and we have a DGA reaching

a tentative agreement on a new contract.

Both of these events could have an impact on what happens next with the DGA strike.

So Drew, what do you want to start with first?

Because it just happened, I say we start with the SAG's SAG's SAG vote.

Let's do it.

So we both know we should say SAG after, but everyone in town says SAG.

So this is the union that represents actors, background performers, stunt people, basically

all the people who show up on screen.

It's a huge union about 160,000 people.

We had talked about SAG's strike authorization vote a few weeks back.

It's the same ideas with the WGAs SAV, in that it authorizes the leadership to call

a strike, but it doesn't mean that a strike is inevitable.

Exactly.

It is a point of leverage in an negotiation.

So in 2017, the WJ had an SAV, but we did not go on strike.

But SAG does not usually call for an SAV.

In fact, it seems like it has been 40 years since they did one, at least on the film and

TV side.
