| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the Julia and Gino podcast, where business meets family. We explore what the entrepreneur |
| 0:06.0 | life looks like from a family perspective. We are your host, Julia and Gino Barbaro. |
| 0:11.8 | Hey, everyone. This is Julia Barbaro, hosts of the Julia and Gino podcast. I am here with the co-founder |
| 0:17.1 | of Jake and Gino, my husband and co-host, Gino Barbaro. Hi, Julia. |
| 0:21.2 | Hey. Well, I just want to say real quick, this is my favorite topic. This is why I started the podcast with you because we're going to be talking about family, food, and faith. The three Fs. That's it. So where do we begin with today's event? Father Leo Padolin Hug is on today. He's a bestselling author, award-winning break dancer, professional chef. And even winning against chef Bobby Flay, I love that. And last but not least, he's a priest, right? And I love the funny quote, everybody. Please just try it. If you die, he can do your funeral. So what you got to lose? There's nothing to lose there. So without further ado, Father Leo, welcome to the show. Hey, thanks, Julian. Gino, it's a pleasure to be on with you. And I know that for your listeners, you said it's like, and I can't remember how you phrased it, but probably the most important thing is that I am a priest. And the strange part is that I'm a break dancer, martial artist, and a chef, now food trucker. And I host a TV show as well. I kind of don't know what my purpose in life is. I'm just trying to find a nap, to be honest with you. So my first question is the vocation. How did you have that vocation, priesthood? How did that come about in your life? Yeah, my girlfriend broke up with me, so I kind of had nothing else to do. I'm kidding. |
| 1:31.9 | I broke up with her. Let you know, I broke up with her. We both were kind of trying to find out what |
| 1:36.9 | God's plan was for us, you know, even at a young age. I wasn't always a good Catholic, |
| 1:41.7 | but when I experienced a conversion, I started to take intentionality a |
| 1:45.9 | little bit more seriously. Like what is God's intention for me? And it's obviously to become a saint. |
| 1:51.3 | It's obviously to get to heaven. But between now and then, how can I use my skill sets best |
| 1:57.4 | to serve the church? And over a period of years of discernment, I finally realized that I |
| 2:03.4 | look good in black. So this is why I chose this. You know, it's funny because you're feeding the people, |
| 2:09.7 | right? And you are both physically feeding people, but also, you know, by your sermons, by your, |
| 2:14.9 | and that's important. And so us as parents, we are home |
| 2:18.2 | feeding. I'm feeding my children constantly. And I, and I think that's what I want to touch |
| 2:22.6 | first is the family, is it, you know, I want, I want to talk about the importance of literally |
| 2:29.5 | sitting. I mean, it's such a basic concept. Sit down together and eat. And I think that society has lost it. |
| 2:35.8 | For sure. |
| 2:36.4 | Tell me what the impact has been. |
| 2:38.2 | So the organization that I run is called plating grace. |
| 2:41.8 | And it's chef language for making grace a little bit more plated, well provided, |
| 2:47.6 | designed. |
