Summary
"There is a cure for addiciton, and His name is Jesus."- Storyteller, Candace Jones
According to the 2023 United States National Survey on Drug Use and Health over 48 million Americans battled a substance use disorder over the past year, making it abundantly clear- addiction does not discriminate. Today on the podcast, Candace Jones, who spoke at our Mountain Brook community's live gathering, shares her story of struggling with drugs and alcohol and how she quickly spiraled into the evil and dark world of selling drugs. Through her candidness, Candace clearly reminds us of the importance of having a relationship with Jesus, relying on Him rather than yourself, and the imperative role community plays when you are battling the lies of the enemy.
IN THIS EPISODE YOU WILL LEARN:
-Addiciton can affect anyone-it does not care where you are from or what type of family you grew up in- and it can quickly take over your life.
-God is seeking after a relationship with you, not religion and rules.
- When God restores, He can do immeasurably more than you can ask or imagine. (Ephesians 3:20)

| 0:00.0 | Y'all have heard us talk probably many, many times at this point about our finding God in the |
| 0:04.7 | Details Workshop. But that is because we love this workshop so much. And we want you to know that we have two this summer that you can attend. One is live in person in Birmingham. So if you're in Birmingham, our surrounding areas, we would love for you to join us. And y'all, we're going to do this one at night. We are going to do this June 18th at 6 o'clock, 6 to 830 at workshop local and Homewood. And we would love for you to participate. And hopefully the nighttime is a great time for you to come. And also we are going to do one online for anyone around the country that's interested in participating on July 8th at 9.30 central time. So there are two different |

| 0:44.1 | amazing. It is a time to sit with the Lord and reflect on what he's done in your story and in your |

| 0:54.7 | that they did not hear from the Lord. It's just a really sweet time of being quiet and still |
| 0:59.1 | and letting the Lord speak to your heart. And if that's something you are interested in, we would |
| 1:03.4 | love for you to join us. You can sign up today at storytellerslap.org on our workshop page. |

| 1:17.9 | I should have hit my knees and cried out to God, saved me, and helped me. And I didn't. |
| 1:24.3 | I shut completely down. I did that thing that we do in addiction where we convince ourselves, everyone else, is better off without us. |
| 1:31.8 | I lived in a world that was evil and dark, and I had no idea how I'd become this person and no idea how I'd get out, no idea who'd ask for help, because I really thought that there was no hope. |
