I don't think there's a better name for any frontier town in the Old American West than Tombstone.

Dodge City, Laramie, even Deadwood, and that's a good name,

doesn't have the same foreboding as Tombstone.

And it was the town of Tombstone that became the home of some of the biggest legends of the

Old West to ever strap on spurs, Texas John Slotter, Doc Holliday, and Wyatt Earp.

But no one came to Tombstone to die. It has a history like any town of springing up from

the scrub brush through the will, courage, and tenacity of early settlers just trying to scratch

out a living and thinking, hey, this place might be a good spot to rest awhile.

And indeed, in the 1870s, Tombstone Arizona was just a rocky mesa in the desert

until 1877, when Silver was discovered, and a lot of it.

Two years later, and Tombstone is a boom town, featuring a bowling alley,

four churches, and 110 saloons, plus a brewing rivalry that will end in the shootout at the okay

crown. Today's Saturday, Matt and I brings you a bit of the real history of this real town,
