I have been reporting on San Francisco for many years. It's a fascinating place when you first

visited but not recently have I visited. What I've read however is go test conduct in center

city so much so that major franchises Nordstrom's anchored at fifth and market have are fleeing

the city. We also have repeated crimes of break ins and and shoplifting throughout the center city

and the puzzle here has been why did it come to this. The financial times ran a magazine piece

some weeks ago saying that San Francisco isn't a doom loop. I mention this because it's part of

a puzzle that you raised in a recent item about California's understanding of governance.

This has to do with its understanding of equality having to do with reparations, having to do with

law enforcement. Is San Francisco the whole the whole problem in one place? Victor is that what's

happened? All the problems that California has created have come to fifth and market.

Yeah I think they have. When I was growing up the center of power and money and influence was

conservative Los Angeles but that with the $9 trillion dollar the arrival of $9 trillion dollars

in market capitalization in Silicon Valley. The whole center of power and gravity and

influence and money is now in that triangle between Silicon Valley San Francisco and Stanford

University whether it's the academic prestige the bankman frees or Elizabeth
