Conversation with a colleague Jonathan Syab about the people in Iran.

Were they expecting the U.S. in some fashion to intervene on the ground with guerrillas,

with revolutionaries, with the Kurds?

Was there a plan?

Is there still a plan?

Jonathan says the people are very discouraged because no longer is Washington talking about regime change

or in some way backing the people of Iran as they throw out the Muslim dictators and the IRGC.

Here's Jonathan, mentioning the Kurds.

We're not, and that goes back to Trump's messaging.

So he was very clear when he started this war, February 28th,

saying there will be a direct communication to you, to the Iranian people.

There'd be a clear sign, and Admiral Cooper repeated that, saying that there will be

a clear message once it's time to mobilize and take to the streets.

Now all of a sudden we see the Islamic, we see Trump reiterating that somehow there's been

already regime change in Iran, and of course the average Iranian that was waiting for that signal now feels abandoned.

So because of that, I think it's hard for them to, I guess, even conceive how they're supposed to mobilize.

If there's no external backing and if anything, Washington is claiming the job is done

and there's already behavior changed by the Islamic Republic.

I do think it was interesting is some unverified reports coming out of Israel saying that there was a bit of a frustration

from Jerusalem against Washington about how Trump, quote, blocked any attempts of regime change.
