This is John Batchel, conversation with my longtime good colleague Mary Kissel about the indictment of

Rao Castro for crimes against peaceful people who were flying an unarmed aircraft, Brotherhoods for Rescue in Cuba.

Cuban people have been enchained for decades. Rao Castro is part of that abuse. However, Mary looks beyond that

to what could this mean for the people of Cuba? People trapped on the island, people who fled

and don't have good conditions, people who are successful in the U.S. What does all of it mean?

What does it point to? Mary thinks there's a playbook here and it might work.

Here's Mary Kistel to explain much more of this tonight. Well, I read the indictment of

Raul Castro as justice and long over two, for starters. I mean, the Castro family has kept

the Cuban people in miserable conditions for decades and decades and decades and profited

off the backs of their work.

So I think it's justice.

I also think it's probably a precursor to, you know, potential U.S. military action in Cuba.

You know, the Cuban regime is on its last legs.

And as Secretary of State, Marker Rubioio laid out very clearly in these last days.

They are out of gas and food and medicine.

And so I think the United States has quite a lot of leverage.

And that's why you see so many of these trips happening.

But, you know, we'll see how it goes. I mean, I was interested to see the language that Secretary of State Rubio used in his address to the Cuban people.

He said that, you know, President Trump is offering, quote, a new path between the U.S.

and a new Cuba.

This is very similar language to what President Trump used in his first term when he offered

a, quote, bright future to the North Korean people when he was engaging in talks with Kim Jong-un.
