I'm John Batchel with Jack Burnham. We're talking about the summit, the conversation in Beijing between the

president and the general secretary. Taiwan, we've addressed as both sides continuing their

defensive maneuvers and their rhetorical maneuvers. We come to trade, however, and technology

as two major concerns for both cultures.

Jack, I note that phase one so-called was to begin in January of 2020.

The reason that I mentioned that date is that just about that time was when the pandemic crashed on all of us.

And I believe that phase one that included soybeans

and oil and other matters that China had guaranteed it was going to purchase, those purchases

never went through at the full contract. Again, they're talking about trade and things that

China's interested to buy. Soybeans are mentioned. Again, oils mentioned. And the

Secretary of the Treasury of Mr. Besant said we were searching for matters, things that China could

buy that wouldn't need to stand up to the Sipheus review. Again, the question is, does China

really follow through?

What is the opinion if you make these contracts?

Is there an enforcement mechanism if China doesn't follow through on the purchase?

There isn't necessarily an enforcement mechanism.

I think that is something that was really critical is that China promised to purchase,

again, promised to purchase agricultural products,

Boeing aircraft and a few other things, oil, energy. But at the same time, this is a story

that we've heard before, as you noted, with the phase one trade deal. And so that's a,

that's going to, I think that will be a persistent issue, is that China will continue to
