I'm John Batchel. I welcome my colleague, Henry Sikolsky, the executive director of the Non-Proliferation Policy Education Center. Underway at the United Nations is the sixth meeting

review conference of the parties to the treaty on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons,

popularly known as the NPT.

It is at the heart of the dispute between the United States, Israel, and Iran, over violations

of the NPT by a signatory, that is the Islamic Republic of Iran.

I welcome Henry to comment on what we can expect from this review

because there is the open question of does the signature on this document dating from 1970

mean that you have a right to enrich uranium fuel or not. There is the matter of not only the fissile material that may be

buried under mountains after the June raid of 2025, but also the spent rods from the nuclear reactor

at Boucher that can be, if chosen, turned into nuclear weapons. So, Henry, I turn to you with the debate at the

UN. Is there a right to enrich that comes along with signature on the NPT? Good evening to you.
