This is John Batchett. A conversation with my colleague Akhmad Shirarria,

the Foundation for Defense of Democracy, about where Iran attacked in the Gulf in the first phase of the war.

What countries and what about those countries? Where did it strike?

Most significantly, the report is that since the first phase, Ukraine has been doing a lot of business in the Gulf with air defenses, especially defenses against low-flying and very slow-flying drones.

So all eyes on the Gulf, repairing as fast as they can their defenses.

Iran was hitting everything from civilian airports to anything associated with oil and

civilian infrastructure.

If there is to be more of those attacks, where will they strike?

Number one target I learned from Ahmed was the UAE on the Strait of

Hormuz right across from Iran. Here's Ahmed to describe the first phase of the attack, more of

this to deny. I mean, this would depend on how fast the U.S. could have supplied these Gulf states with air defenses.

Right.

But also there were reports that the Ukrainians have been supporting the U.S. states

in the interception of drones by providing them with systems and knowledge.

Now, will we see these systems activated if there is a second phase?

I mean, it depends on if there is a second phase. I mean, it depends on if there is a second phase, and we'll definitely see that.

But there is, I mean, there are no indications that Iran will change its strategy in the second

phase of the conflict.

I think the focus will be on the energy and civilian infrastructure.
