Defense of Democracy. Iran, the conflict in Iran now turns on the Straits of Hormuz, a piece of geography

that's been there as far as we can tell of at least 5,000, 7,000 years, when the continent's capped and then closed and capped and then closed around the middle of the earth.

Perhaps even much longer than that, I do not have the facts.

I do know that what concerns everyone right now is its status.

Can you count on it?

If it's closed, fine.

We'll plan.

If it's open, fine, we'll plan.

But the back and forthing.

As I understand the talks that were scheduled for Monday,

Mr. Whitkoff and Mr. Kushner arriving in Islamabad to talk to the representatives of the Islamic Republic.

Those talks are not going forward. I won't say they're called off. I won't say they're rescheduled. I say they're not going forward. We don't have any more clarity than that.

However, there is the matter of what happened over these last days since we last talked,

and I believe it's a series of events that could add up to escalation,

but might actually be point-counterpoint.

In other words, some kind of dialogue.
