contender for the Peruvian presidency. I've learned not to get too involved in who's the president this

week in Peru because I think they've had 3,500 changes of chief executive for the last 100 years.

However, Fujimura, Ms. Fujimura has history here. Her father was president and was much

abused by the court system and I believe spent many years in detention.

In the last election, it was very close between Fujimor and the eventual winner.

That would be Mr. Castillo, who is now perhaps in the same jail cellar father was in,

well, acting president, Bolarte, who was the vice president for Castillo. I believe she is now

in detention for corruption. So this election is colorful, to say the least. What are we watching

a strategically important country, is in the middle of a lot of political instability.

So to unpack that a little bit, the elections themselves, it's a two-round election.

The first round is on April 12th this Sunday. If none of the

candidates get to 50 percent, you'll have a second runoff, and this is likely to be the critical

one on June 7th with whoever is elected to the presidency coming in July 28th. And I'll get to the
