This is John Batchelor. Bestselling author Craig Unger, American Compromat and House of Trump,

House of Putin, explains how it is that Donald Trump in the 20th century, 1980s, came in contact with and worked with

elements of the Soviet state, the state security, called KGB.

And how that developed into a relationship over many years has to do with laundering money.

The very first contact was in 1980.

Trump had developed his first really successful hotel, the Hyatt Grand Central,

right near Grand Central Station, and he needed to buy TV sets, and it turned out he was getting

a really terrific deal on cheap TV sets for the hotel rooms there, hundreds of them, not from a major vendor

like Samsung or Sony that you might expect, but from a very small outfit that turned out to be

a front for the KGB. And that was the first thing that hooked Donald Trump. From there, it went on to money laundering.

The Russian mafia was laundering money millions and millions of dollars, over a billion in total, through Trump real estate.
