This is John Batchel, a conversation with Veronique de Rie of the Mercado Center about growth in the Trump administration,

growth despite the tariffs, which I am taught to regard as a tax on the American people,

a tax that takes the money out of our hands where it's productive and puts it in the hands of the government,

which is enough to say not productive. Here's Veronique to describe not only the tariffs,

but the will of the whisp nature of the tariff application. How much of the tariffs mentioned

Liberation Day are still in place?

Yeah, tariffs are regulation. In fact, when the administration, it crows about how much

revenue they're raising from the tariffs, we have to understand we Americans are paying that tax.

We are paying it.

There's just no question about it.

In fact, there's just a study that came out where, like, we are shouldering 94% of the tax.

And, but, I mean, it is, it, the, it's, tax is one thing.

But again, the uncertainty of the implementation.

It would be one thing if the president said from now on, 10% on everything.

It wouldn't be ideal, but at least, you know, companies would adjust and they would, you know, they would work around it and they

would figure things out. But it's just the erraticness and like the changing constantly,

the, you know, Liberation Day. Now, half of the, half of, half of, only half of the tariffs from

Liberation Day are still in place.
