the United States Marine Corps retired many years in Asia,

looking very carefully at the vulnerability of the United States

as the threat of the People's Republic of China grew

and as the rest of the region looked to the United States for leadership.

Unlike Europe, Asia is quite aware that the U.S. Navy and its attendance are

necessary to fend off the strength of the People's Republic of China. However, there's a new

document, the National Security Strategy, that identifies where the U.S. is strong and how it will

conduct itself.

In an interview, you've talked about the national security strategy as worthwhile and taking into account the present circumstances.

For example, the Trump administration is not engaging in nation building.

It's engaging in what's best for the

American people. Do I say that correctly, Colonel? I think so. It's the United States considering

U.S. national interests. And whenever America does that, it's accused by all sorts of people

in America and overseas as being selfish, as upsetting the world order.

And we're the only country when we do look after what's good for America, that gets that

sort of criticism.

And in Asia, there are needs, mostly Navy needs, although I'll include the possibilities
