It's a paramilitary organization in Lebanon and other parts of the world, but Lebanon is its home base.

And I welcome David Diyood of the Foundation for Defense of Democracy who writes for the Long War Journal

to take us into the world of a Hezbollah Op. His name was Ahmed Hussein Salami. He's no longer

with us, but David has written up a very careful presentation of what his job was in the village where he was

well known, especially when the LAF, the Lebanese armed forces who are charged with confiscating

the weaponry from Hezbollah, if the ceasefire is to continue, when the LAF shows up, how does the village respond?

How does the village representative to Hezbollah, the man Salomey, respond?

David, a very good evening to you.

Salami, what we know about him is that he's called a liaison.

But you give us an episode in his life as liaison where the LAF shows up looking for weapons

and there are weapons to be found but they leave empty-handed. How does it work, David? Good

evening to you. Good evening, John. Well, in this case, this apparently happened on December 13th

of 2025. Per the ceasefire mechanism, the Israelis, if they

detect a violation, are supposed to forward it to the ceasefire oversight committee, which in turn

forwards it onto the LAF to address it. In this case, the LAF, because this Hesbala liaison officer

exists, they notified him unclear from the IDF

statement if this was, you know, they were supposed to notify him, if this was pure procedure,

if they were trying to give him a heads up. But the LAF shows up in town and Salami and his

subordinates, it would seem, is his fellow Hezbollah operatives in the village,
