This is John Batchel. Mary Anastacio Grady, the America's columnist for the Wall Street Journal

editorial page identifies a man named Dios Dioz, the head of the Ministry of Interior in Venezuela,

the guys with guns, the secret policemen, the bully boys, the enforcers, the ones who keep a torture

chamber and a prison where there are upwards of 800 people who have not been released, despite the change of weather, we're told in Caracas.

Mary outlines what's supposed to be happening.

Phase one was get rid of Maduro.

Phase two, economic stability.

Phase three, moved to democracy. But the guy with

the gun, Cabello, and the person who put him there and endorses him and keeps him in power,

the now president of the country, Dulce Rodriguez. Here's Mary. More of this tonight.

Well, so far, there is no transition.

I mean, what the administration is hoping for is that Delcy Rodriguez comes in, works

with the U.S., creates a set of institutions that are willing to respect democracy, the president-elect Edmundo

Gonzalez, and move the country back towards an ally of the U.S.

But so far, that's not happening.

She's elevated Gonzalez-Lopez.

She's allowing Cabello to accumulate more weapons and accumulate more power.

And he, you know, is a problem for the U.S. agenda.
