I'm John Batchel with my colleague Gregory Copley, a native Australian and a member of the Commonwealth.

And Charles III is Gregory's king in Australia, as he's the king of Canada, king of New Zealand,

king of Britain, king of Northern Ireland, King of Scotland. And he is, and Gregory reports very

carefully over many weeks, holding together the United Kingdom, which is itself an assertion

of authority, holding together Great Britain,

which was in the mind of James I, James I, James I, the 6th of Scotland, James the first, who

succeeded Elizabeth, that's what he wanted to say he was inheriting on the throne of, Great Britain,

to include Scotland and Wales and Ireland at the time.

All right.

But Great Britain is in trouble.

The trouble is deep.

And it might be that they don't have a way out.

They're being led by a man who's mostly a lawyer, an attorney, not a leader.

And they have a party in power that thinks taxes and confiscation

and punishment and regulation, the wrong direction in every place. And the king is responding.

The question is, is he responding adequately? And I note that the parliament now

is entertaining more and more what are called illiberal regulations to punish speech, to jail

speech. And I don't mean speech about tear down Whitehall. I don't mean speech about do something violent to the royal family.

I mean speech about casual things like voting and casual things like war, that kind of

speech, or what is called hate speech, communities railing against each other in secret language.

That is being, let's put it this way, there is the assertion that is being punished.
