I'm John Batchel with Gregory Copley, my mentor,

and he is examining what we have of the Monroe Doctrine,

these last months in Greenland, in Venezuela, certainly,

and now also including Panama.

Question is, always back to that 20-inch gun speech by Giver Cleveland, is the

Mondro doctrine backed up by the U.S. Can we enforce it?

We did in 1895 in the Venezuela crisis under Cleveland, and Britain backed off rather

than collect what it wanted

from now Guyana.

However, here today, the question is, are we a continental force, the United States, with its

army and Marines, and very large population that can be called upon to defend the homeland,

or are we a naval power that can

project with space command into the oceans around the world, enforcing the Monroe Doctrine?

There is a proposal by the president to build a new fleet of battleships, and it appears that

the Trump administration first term and second term,

is committed to a larger fleet, 355 plus. So Gregory, the simple question, are we a naval power

or continental power? And does our Navy back off those who would impose their will on our

hemisphere?

The answer to all of those is yes.

It's a continental power.

It's a maritime power because its wealth depends on its control of the seas,

just as Britain's power rested on its fleet.
