Way too much going on, so we march to the sound of elections.

The people of Chile have made a striking reversal of fortune

for the socialist Communist Party that has dominated the conversation these last

years. They've chosen an overt capitalist, a man who is elected in order to bring prosperity

and investor class into Chile, back into Chile, staying in Chile. Why? Because Chile is, God bless, rich,

with vital elements for the growth of the 21st century, not the least of which, not quite the

most of which, is copper. Chile is part of the story if we're to have a successful century.

And yet, it's been badly run or routinely run these last years

and networked with adversaries of the United States,

chiefly the People's Republic of China.

But Professor Evan Ellis of the U.S. Army War College

helps me understand why this election, more than any other, is a striking reversal.

Professor, who is Kost? His election has gained a great deal of attention in the region.

Oh, John, Jose Antonio Kast actually comes from a very conservative family. His views and the family's views

were really shaped during the era of the dictatorship of General Gossopinichet, which is a time,

which in nostalgia for many Chileans, was a time when the trains run on time and the challenge

of communism and disorder was put under

control. Many people in Chile, like the caste family, remember the Pinochet era as the era that

really set up Chile to jump forward to be one of the most well-run and economically prosperous
