You heard correctly, tonight's special episode is the season 8 finale and your latest installment of hometown legends.

Every town has a tale, every village a story, and tonight we hear legends from every corner of the U.S. and then some.

And I'm not ashamed to tell you that I have a buttload of these stories.

So let's get started.

Kicking off the season 8 finale and setting tonight's scene, we begin with Shane in the state of Washington.

Here is his hometown legend.

Hey Derek, my name's Shane.

I'm calling you from Seattle.

I left a message not too long ago,

but I thought of another thing that, not something I've ever directly experienced, but it's a cool story from Washington State that I'm

sure many listeners have heard, but probably not a lot of them.

It's called Mel's Hole.

Mel is a person who lives in Ellensburg, Washington, lots of farms and still kind of in the foothills nearby.

But there's a story of this allegedly bottomless hole on this guy, Mel's property.

Apparently he lowered a lot of weighted fishing line into the hall to test how deep it was.

And his story is that he lowered something like 80,000 feet, which is pretty nuts.

Like something else to happen there.

But it's bottomless tall account.
