I'm John Batchez with Bill Rosio, my colleague and co-host.

He is a senior fellow for the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

He keeps the Long Word Journal, where you can routinely see reporting by Jonathan Sayah,

who joins us from FD this morning.

He is a research fellow, and he's our eyes on Iran. You will recall

before this present controversy over the Ukrainian war in which Iran participated with drones and

missiles, there was the controversy of Iran suspect nuclear weapons program. That after the B2 raid

launched by the Trump administration,

was headed to a negotiation. However, to my reading, above board, there's been no negotiation

about the suspect nuclear weapons program, despite the decapitation raid by Israel, the destruction

of the air defenses of Iran. I don't see any news at all.

Jonathan, is what you see, what you get, or are there reason to believe they're negotiating

in back channel? And what are they negotiating about the U.S. and Tehran?

The only reason we might suspect that there might be desire for talks at least is President

Trump's statements last week saying that apparently Tehran has reached out through Saudi

Arabia asking for negotiations again.

You have to keep in mind, this is a regime that's under heavy, heavy sanctions, endured

a war, and wasn't really able to win

anything outside of that war. Its nuclear program was destroyed. Of course, economically, they're

paying the price and they lost a lot of their proxies in the region. So they have every incentive

to negotiate, to get some sort of relief in one way or another. But from Washington's perspective,
