Professor Valena Beattie has talked about an astonishing statistic.

Currently, about 75% of exonerated women were wrongfully convicted of a crime that never occurred.

Let that number sink in.

Three out of four women who have been set free were wrongfully convicted for a crime that no one committed.

Common examples include a husband who died in his sleep, a loved one who died by suicide,

and the type of case we're covering this season, a child who lost her life in a tragic accident.

Professor Beatty chucks up these no-crime wrongful convictions to a combination of factors,

all of which you'll hear about this season.

Amanda was convicted of the murder of her daughter, Adriana, and she's been serving a life
