The first thing I want you to know is we get into this week's pocket podcast is you are not alone.

0:06.9

What I'm going to go over this week is something that applies very much to me and it's something

0:12.4

that I'm currently working on that I've made a lot of improvement on and that I know you can work

0:18.6

on. I'm talking about being that person who takes on too much because you are afraid of letting

0:27.5

people down. You're overly responsible. You're not just responsible. You're overly responsible

0:35.7

because if it's going to get done, you've got to do it and that's not a way to go through life.

0:41.9

So I'm going to hold up a mirror. If you see yourself in it, I'm going to offer you a solution

0:47.5

or two. That's this week on the Pocket Podcast.

The upside means living in gratitude, finding the positive in every experience and helping

1:04.4

other people do the same and it doesn't have to take a lot of time. This is an upside pocket

1:09.9

podcast with Callie and Jeff. I'm going to give you the solution to this problem right off the

1:15.7

bat. The solution is setting boundaries. The solution is using the word no. The solution is

1:23.9

remembering that the word no is a complete sentence, but I know from experience that's easier

1:30.4

said than done. Would you have to remember, I think, what has helped me a little bit is if you

1:36.3

are one of these overly responsible people, if you're one of these people who take it on because

1:42.4

you don't want to burden other people with it, you have to remember that you're not doing anyone

1:47.5

any favors. You're burdening yourself unnecessarily and you're not giving the other person an

1:54.5

opportunity to grow, to improve, to shine, to take responsibility and in a lot of cases,

2:02.2

to fail and learn from that failure. So remember, when you're saying no to something that's outside

2:11.4

of what you should be doing, you're not just helping yourself. You're helping them as well.

2:16.9

And trust me, I know. I know it's so much easier said than done, but you can do it. Now that you

2:23.1

have the solution, let's say a quick thank you to this week's pocket podcast sponsor and then

...
