Pints with Jack is your weekly CS-Lewis podcast, where David, Andrew, and I break down and discuss

the works of C.S. Louis. This season, we eavesdropped on

screw tape's letters and listened in on his toast. We then read the silver chair, but now we're just

interviewing interesting guests. And today we're joined by Dr. Harry Lee Poe. Dr. Poe has a PhD

from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, serves as the Charles

Colson Professor of Faith and Culture at Union University, where he has taught a course on

Lewis for almost 20 years. He is the author of The Inklings of Oxford and C.S. Lewis remembered,

as well as many articles and chapters on Lewis. Dr. Poe leads the

Inklings Fellowship and its retreats at Montreat and Oxford, and is also a frequent speaker at

universities, conferences, churches, and libraries on Lewis and the Inklings. Dr. Poe, welcome to Pints

I love it. What's the origins of Hal? I'm named for my uncle, my grandfather, and my great-grandfather, who was born in

1856, when Hal was a nickname for Harris. Oh, wow. So I'm the fourth. That's fantastic. That

goes way back. I love it. It does way back. Old family name. We say that the pose are a poor family and can't afford many names,

so we just keep recycling the same names.

That is so good. And David and I first met you at the CS Lewis Symposium in Montrea

a couple years ago. And before we recorded, we were just catching up on, a lot has happened between a pandemic
