After Hours with Dr. Michael Ward.

Welcome, everyone. Pints with Jack is your weekly CS Lewis podcast, where Matt, Andrew and I

break down and discuss the works of CS Lewis. This season, we've eavesdropped on screw tape,

and we've read his toast to the

tempters college. However, today is a Thursday, meaning that it's an after-hours episode,

and today we have a returning guest, Dr. Michael Ward. He was on the show earlier this season to

talk about his book, Planet Narnia, as well as his various C.S. Lewis-related exploits.

And for those of you who didn't hear that earlier show, Dr. Michael Ward is an English C.S. Lewis scholar, best known for his book's Planet

Narnia and the Narnia Code, in which he argues that the Chronicles of Narnia are structured to

embody and express the imagery of the seven heavens of the medieval cosmos. He studied at a number of institutions, Regents Park College, Oxford, Peterhouse, Cambridge,

and the University of St. Andrews.

He is currently a senior research fellow at Blackfriars Hall, University of Oxford,

and Professor of Apologetics at Houston Baptist University.

He's been an extra in a number of films, including

Shadowlands, Hamlet, and The World is Not Enough. He's most recently taken the role of C.S. Louis's

vicar in The Most Reluctant Convert, a film about Lewis's conversion, first to theism, and then

to Christianity. However, the reason he's here today is to talk to us about his new to release book, After Humanity, A Guide to C.S. Lewis's The Abolition of Man. Dr. Ward, welcome back to Pines for Jack. Dr. Bates and people say, you don't have a PhD. It's like, excuse me, when Dr. Michael Ward says you're a doctor, you're a doctor.
