Welcome, everyone. Pints with Jack is your weekly CS-Lewis podcast, where Matt, Andrew and I

break down and discuss the works of C.S. Lewis. This season, we've been eavesdropping

on the correspondence of a senior demon, Screwtape, as he explains how to tempt the patient,

a human assigned to his nephew, a demon named Wormwood. Each week we'll be considering a different

letter, untwisting Screwtap's hellish logic, and forming a battle plan for our own spiritual lives.

However, today is a Thursday and is therefore an after-hours episode where I'm interviewing a guest.

Now, since we are beginning a new season, we know we're probably going to be attracting new listeners

who may not know too many details about

the life and work of C.S. Lewis. They may just think of him as that children's author. Well, to this

end, today we're very pleased to have on the show, James Como. Professor James Como holds

the PhD in Language, Literature and Rhetoric from Columbia University, and is Professor Emeritus of Rhetoric

and Public Communication at New York College. He was a founding member of the New York C.S. Lewis Society

in 1969, and has written four books about C.S. Lewis, which include Remembering C.S. Louis,

why I believe in Narnia, branches to heaven, and the book, which we'll be talking about today, C.S. Lewis, Why I Believe in Narnia, Branches to Heaven, and the book, which

we'll be talking about today, C.S. Lewis, a very short introduction, or VSI, for short, for even

shorter. These books, along with his many journal articles on Lewis and on air commentary for

five biographical documentaries. They've established

Professor Como as one of the most highly regarded Lewis scholars in the world, and we're very

honored to welcome him here today. So Professor Como, welcome to Pites with Jack.
