Welcome to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace.

This year we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study Christ and all of Scripture.

0:09.0

Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the New,

0:15.0

seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.

0:17.0

Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful

0:22.0

that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present

0:26.6

throughout the entire biblical story, but the center of it. Hey friends, welcome back to another

0:33.4

episode of the Year in the Bible. I'm Alexa and I'm here with my co-host Beth.

Hi everyone. Today we're going to be discussing the annotation day on Romans 2, 28 through 29.

0:51.2

Those verses say, for a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly and true circumcision is not something visible in the flesh. On the contrary, a person is a Jew who is one

0:55.4

inwardly and circumcision is of the heart. By the spirit, not the letter. That person's praise is not

1:01.8

from people, but from God. So, Alexa, how did this annotation day go for you? It was good, especially

after reading Deuteronomy 30 verse 6. I really loved the prompt that

1:13.3

asked us to read the verses in a few different translations and know any differences. For one,

1:19.2

that's just such a great reminder of how helpful it is to read different translations when it

1:23.4

comes to understanding what we're studying in God's Word. So the translation we read in the study

1:29.1

is the CSB. So I looked up the ESB first. A couple differences I saw there was that it says,

1:35.1

nor is circumcision outward and physical, where the CSB says true circumcision is not something visible

1:42.1

in the flesh. The ESV also says circumcision is a matter

1:46.6

of the heart, whereas the CSB says circumcision is of the heart. Then I looked at the NIV. The NIV is

1:54.0

pretty similar to the CSB, but one difference that I found helpful is that it says not by the written

1:59.3

code instead of not the letter like the CSB says.
