Well, we made it.

The 20th and final episode for this, the fourth season of Monsters Among Us.

As longtime listeners know, I do my best to do something special to send each and every season

out with a bang.

And well, tonight is no exception.

This evening we're going to hear from nearly a dozen listeners that submitted stories about

their hometowns, counties, regions, and states.

In addition, I have a special interview lined up with an expert in all things legend.

But before we launch into that, I recently, as in I woke up there this morning, went on a camping

trip to one of Southern California's strangest locations, the Salton Sea.

It's called the Salton Sea.

It's the largest body of water in California, and it's not even supposed to be there.

At the turn of the last century, an engineering screw-up of epic proportions diverted the Colorado River into one of the lowest, hottest,

hottest land basins in the United States.

It took two years to stem the tide, and when the flooding finally stopped,

350 square miles of desert lay underwater.

Everyone assumed the giant inland sea they had created by accident would just dry up,

but when it didn't, real estate developers tried to turn an ecological disaster into an opportunity.
