0:11.0	This year we will fix our gaze upon Christ so that we may know
0:14.8	him not only with our minds but with our hearts. Together we will learn that
0:19.1	who Jesus is changes everything.
0:23.1	Welcome back to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace.
0:25.4	My name is Kristen Schbucker, and we are journeying
0:28.3	through the New Testament and we're currently
0:30.2	in the book of Philippians.
0:32.0	I am so happy to be spending this time in Philippians.
0:35.2	The past few days have been such an encouragement and I love today's chapter.
0:39.3	In chapter 3 Paul focuses on the importance of knowing Jesus,
0:45.0	and that theme runs throughout the entire chapter.
0:48.9	Paul begins again with the command to rejoice
0:51.9	that we have seen throughout the letter to the
0:54.2	Philippian church. As he tells the church to rejoice he also warns them about
0:58.4	those who distort the gospel and Paul uses pretty strong language to describe them.
1:04.0	Twisting the gospel is serious, and Paul makes that clear.
1:09.0	Paul also speaks of the circumcision and he uses that phrase here to refer to the true people of God.
1:15.6	This is a reference to the Old Testament practice of circumcision as well as a reference to
1:19.6	what Paul described in Romans 2 as a circumcision of the Heart. Paul says that these are the people who worship God,
1:25.0	both in Christ and do not trust in themselves.
1:30.0	He is showing that being a Christian is about our hearts before the Lord.
