and today we are jumping back into Philippians. I mentioned yesterday how much I love

Philippians and chapter two in particular is so incredibly beautiful so let's dive

in. Paul builds on the message of chapter one that was filled with Thanksgiving, prayer, joy, and a desire for unity among the church.

As chapter two begins, we see that Paul bases his desire for unity on the truth of our relationship

with God. In verse one we see Jesus and the Spirit referenced explicitly and

most scholars agree that Paul is also referencing the Father in this verse to show us the unity of the Trinity and the basis for our obedience as children of God.

Paul speaks directly to selfish ambition and self-centeredness and that these things have no

place among the people of God. These lead to emptiness, but the opposite of them is humility.

Paul urges the Philippian Church to have the mind of Christ and think like him.

Beginning in verse 5, we have this beautiful description of Jesus, our Savior. These words are believed to be an early
