We pick up in Luke's Gospel in the midst of Holy Week.

It was preparation for Passover, which was one of the most significant holidays of the Jewish calendar.

Passover represented God rescuing his people from Egypt, but for Jesus' followers, Holy Week would come to represent God rescuing his people from

By this point, the religious leaders hated Jesus and they were ready to put him to death.
