in the Bible with Daily Grace. My name is Kristen Schmucker and we are in Luke 22 today. As a reminder,

We pick up in Luke's Gospel in the midst of Holy Week.

It was preparation for Passover, which was one of the most significant holidays of the Jewish calendar.

Passover represented God rescuing his people from Egypt, but for Jesus' followers, Holy Week would come to represent God rescuing his people from

sin and death.

By this point, the religious leaders hated Jesus and they were ready to put him to death.

When they should have been preparing their hearts to remember God's salvation through

a spotless lamb in Egypt, Instead, they plotted to kill the

lamb of God. The only thing they cared more about than killing Jesus was their own reputation.

I can only imagine the religious leaders look of shock and diabolical glee when Judas showed up

willing to help for just a few pieces of silver. Satan was at work,

but it was not against Judas's will. Meanwhile, Jesus and the disciples were preparing for Passover.

Jesus' instructions to the disciples seem so cryptic about how they should prepare for the meal.

They were to find the man with the water jug, and that might

not grab her attention, but it would have grabbed the attention of the disciples.

Carrying a water jug was women's work, and a man doing this would have stood out. This mysterious

man led them to the large upper room where they would have this important meal. Why was Jesus
