Welcome to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace. My name is Kristen and my name is Katie and we want to spend a few minutes a day with you walking through the New Testament one chapter at a time. This year we will fix our gaze upon Christ so that we may know him, not only with our minds but with our hearts.

Together we will learn that who Jesus is changes everything. Hello, and welcome

0:25.0

back to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace. My name is Katie, and I am so excited to continue on the

0:31.5

journey through the Gospel of John with you today. We will be studying John 5. Let's dive in. In John 4, we found ourselves

0:41.4

in Galilee, and today John takes us back to Jerusalem. It's possible that a large amount of time

1:41.5

Well, scholars believe that verse 4 was added later on by scribe and was not a part of

1:46.8

the original text, so we will exclude it from our conversation. This disabled man was coming to the

1:53.8

pool because he believed that an angel might stir up the waters and that the first one in would be

1:59.5

healed. But time after time, others beat him to the water.

2:04.6

This man likely felt frustrated and hopeless.

2:07.8

Have you ever felt these feelings?

2:10.4

What is remarkable about this man is that he does not seek Jesus out in faith like many

2:15.6

of those who are healed by Jesus.

2:17.4

Instead, Jesus seeks him out.

2:21.5

There's no specific reason given, simply the sovereign understanding of God chose to have this
