Today we're in Ephesians too.

show notes. Today we continue in the letter to the Ephesians. Here in chapter 2, Paul paints a picture of who we were

without Christ. He tells us that we were spiritually dead and living in the ways of the world.

Paul's description helps us to see that without God we were spiritually

lifeless and helpless and only the Lord could rescue us. The description of our

state in verses one through three is bleak, but verse four begins

with words that change everything.

But God, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. We can't help but be left in awe of the love and

grace of God when we more fully understand our helpless state apart from

Christ. He is rich in mercy and love, and when we were dead in our sins he made us alive.

Just as Jesus rose, we too are spiritually risen. And even more we have union with Christ in heaven. Paul points to our union with

Christ over and over again. We are in him and he is in us.
