0:25.6	My name is Kristen Schmucker and we are journeying through the New Testament.
0:29.4	Today we're in Ephesians too.
0:31.1	As a reminder, I'm using the Behold Studies from the Daily Grace

0:37.9	show notes. Today we continue in the letter to the Ephesians. Here in chapter 2, Paul paints a picture of who we were
0:45.4	without Christ. He tells us that we were spiritually dead and living in the ways of the world.
0:51.6	Paul's description helps us to see that without God we were spiritually
0:55.4	lifeless and helpless and only the Lord could rescue us. The description of our
1:00.8	state in verses one through three is bleak, but verse four begins
1:04.8	with words that change everything.
1:07.9	But God, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. We can't help but be left in awe of the love and
1:16.2	grace of God when we more fully understand our helpless state apart from
1:20.4	Christ. He is rich in mercy and love, and when we were dead in our sins he made us alive.
1:27.5	Just as Jesus rose, we too are spiritually risen. And even more we have union with Christ in heaven. Paul points to our union with
1:36.2	Christ over and over again. We are in him and he is in us.
1:41.8	Versus 8 through 10 are some of the most famous verses in scripture,
1:45.7	but we should be sure not to brush over the truth
