Summary

The number one question I get is always around the brain and nervous system and WHY WHY WHY it somehow feels "safer" to be sick than to feel the darkest of our human emotions. Today we revisit an episode from the Summer Series '22 where we explore just that. We are more than willing to lament to friends that we are "annoyed", "bummed", or "freaked out." But we are less likely to talk about being enraged, grieving, or terrified. This is sometimes because we are embarrassed, but more likely because these feelings operate under the cover of darkness in our subconscious minds. The nervous system feels them though, and chronic illness is a response in the form of protection. So much to understand here, and repetition is key for learning. Let's revisit this important topic, together. Much love! xoxo n. Producer: Lisa Eisenpresser Come to Migraine Deep Dive Retreat! My Website: https://www.thecureforchronicpain.com/ OMEGA IS LIVE! So today I find myself responding to tons and tons of questions and emails and speak

pipes and DMs about why, why, why, why, does the nervous system seek to protect us with

0:39.9

chronic pain and anxiety and symptoms and syndromes and conditions and diagnoses rather than

0:46.6

just like what's the big freaking deal of feeling our big feelings, our conflictual feelings,

0:53.4

our triggers connected to our childhood trauma or our past experiences like what's the

1:00.8

big deal, why would the brain and the nervous system go as far as to make us sick in order

1:07.1

to keep us safe.

1:08.6

And so it's a really, really, really great question.

1:12.2

It's a really important conversation and I thought to myself, all right, how can I best

address this because it's always coming at me.

1:20.2

a primer that has to be re-experienced again and again and again for all of us, even

those of you who have been listening to my podcast from the beginning because there's

never enough repetition when it comes to first of all our intellectual understanding and
