Hey we are going to talk about something that is actually the number one question I get when I'm on the road. It is, how do you do it all? How do you balance life and family and work? And so I want to first start by saying some of

you are listening and you don't have kids and I will say this we're going to talk

about what it means to balance family and

relationships no matter if that's children, parents, siblings. So just to hear

everything I say about kids also with the context of family and friendships because I've noticed that all of those relationships take work,

especially as my margin for work increases, I have to be more intentional about what it means to balance those relationships.

So I want to start by something that maybe you've heard me say before,

which is I don't believe in balance, and I don't believe in balance because I cannot find it anywhere in scripture.

Our idea of that is, you know, first of all, if you think of balance when you think of scales,

if you've ever worked with those old school scales where you put like a certain number of rocks on the other.

It's almost impossible to achieve balance.

It's a losing game.

If even if you get it, you know, if the temperature changes or the air shifts like everything gets off

balance again so I find it to be a very unrealistic goal and so what I see in

scripture is surrender surrender and obedience and you see it throughout

scripture but today I'm just going to read to you a very

simple passage and we're going to base this entire episode off of it. Matthew 633,

seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.

And a lot of us probably have heard that verse before, grew up memorizing it in the King James

version, which is seek you first the kingdom of God and all these things will be
