Welcome back to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace. My name is Kristen, and I am so excited to walk

through scripture with you as we journey through the New Testament. Today, we are wrapping up

2 Peter and 2nd Peter 3. As always, you can use Behold studies from the Daily Grace Go, as well as our

reading plan that will be linked in the show notes. Yesterday, we studied Peter's passion against

false teachers infiltrating the church. He encouraged the Christians scattered throughout Asia

Minor to hold fast to the gospel, despite these deceivers attempting to sway them from truth.

Today, he's just as passionate.

In 2 Peter 3, we observe Peter's passionate love and care for his dear friends.

In fact, four times in this chapter, Peter addresses his audience as dear friends.

As Peter nears the end of his life, he wants to ensure that his beloved

brothers and sisters in Christ cling to their faith and persevere through the temptation

coming against them. Just as he did in 2 Peter 113. Peter wants to stir up his audience with a

reminder. Here's the big picture of today's chapter.

False teachers are stirring up doubt within believers' minds about Christ's return.

These scoffers ask, where is his coming that he promised? In feeling the pain of waiting,

Christians may begin to loosen their grip on Christ's promise to return and be tempted to doubt he will ever come at all.

Cleaning to the promise of Christ's second coming is important. Think of a runner in a marathon.

That runner is persevering through each mile, anticipating the wonderful feeling of finally crossing
