walk with you through First Peter in our year-long study of the New Testament. As always, I'm using

As we begin today's chapter, Peter continues with the metaphor he ended with in chapter one.

We have been born again in Christ. This truth is what chapter two flows from.

Chapter two will answer questions like,

Because I am born again in Christ, what does that mean about my

identity? About my obedience, about the way I act toward others, about the way I view my circumstances.

To those of the diaspora, to whom Peter writes, their hope in Christ sustains them.

To these persecuted Christians, Peter communicates their new life in Christ and how this new life is established upon a firm foundation.

Christ himself is their cornerstone. And if they are built upon Christ, no storm, no wind, no trial, nor persecution can shake them.
