invested in this is the same passionate and sometimes impulsive Peter,

who boldly declared Jesus as the Son of God in Matthew 16,

yet became upset when he learned that Jesus must die.

Even so, Jesus calls Peter the rock of his church.

Peter also rashly defends Jesus in John 18 by cutting off the ear of the high priest's servant in order to prevent Jesus arrest. Peter also denied Jesus three times after the same arrest in fear. And yet, this is the man whom Jesus restores after his resurrection by tenderly

allowing Peter to say, I love you, three times. Yes, Jesus uses this imperfect man to establish

his church. In Acts, Peter preaches at Pentecost when the Holy Spirit first fills believers.

that Peter is an eyewitness to the most intimate moments of Jesus' ministry, his death,

and his resurrection. And this time with Jesus forever changed Peter's life.
