Dirkmont, and I'm joined by my friend, Professor

Richard Leduc. Hello, Garrett. In this week's podcast, we're going to be talking more

about the Mormon Battalion. When last we left you, we were, Garrett was talking about how much

we hate the United States. I don't, and how much. I wasn't talking in the present tense.

That's not what I heard, but I feel, I feel like I'm being misrepresented. So this is coming out just after, just after Veterans Day and

just before Christmas. And so we'll be talking about the Saints hatred for America.

No, no. At the time, they're being driven from the country.

At the time.

They feel very passionately that they are being exterminated from the country.

But before we get to the thrilling potential conclusion, even though this is likely

several more episodes of James K. Polk and his hijinks with the Mormons.

We'll start off with the Joseph L. Hayward, or Haywood, pardon me, to the Haywood family,

Joseph L. Haywood mailbag.

And of course, he was appointed postmaster of Salt Lake City in March of 1849 and also was a member of the Council of 50.

Yeah, this is pretty good at Joseph L. Haywood.
