Today, we take a look at three more Psalms.

As David's life draws to an end, we near the end of the Psalms he authored as well.

We aren't certain when Psalms 131, 138 and 139 were written,

but each one displays a heart of humility that David learned over time.

We will trace this theme of humility through all three Psalms and take a closer look at some of God's attributes in Psalm 139.

First, we begin with Psalm 131.

This Psalm of Ascent would have been sung by those making the pilgrimage up to Jerusalem.

Though it's only three short verses, David teaches us about the calm and quiet confidence he's found in the Lord.

But he uses a unique simile, the weaning of a child.

When we think about a child that is unwind or still nursing, their desire for their mother comes from a tangible need to eat.

But when that child is weined or no longer nursing, they come to their mother in great love and a desire for their presence.

No longer does a physical need have to be met, the child finds rest simply in their mother's love.

This humble example of a child and his mother is a beautiful picture of David's own confidence in God.

David experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in his life.

Over time, he learned humility and the joy of quietly dwelling in God's presence.

And he closes this Psalm by exhorting others to put their hope in the Lord in the same way.

Believers can learn the same lesson even today.
