Hey friends! Tiffany here! Welcome back to our chronological journey from Eden to eternity.

Today, our journey takes us back to the Psalms as we study chapter 119.

As you read, I'm sure you quickly realized this is indeed the longest chapter in the Bible.

In fact, it's longer than even some of the shortest books in the Bible.

And hopefully, you also noticed the overarching theme of delighting in God's word.

I would love for us to be able to break down this chapter, but because of its link,

we will spend our time on some contextual information that helps us understand the chapter better,

as well as some of the overarching themes that point our hearts to Jesus.

The author of Psalm 119 is unknown.

Some scholars believe David penned it over the course of his life,

while others think Ezra or Nehemiah might have written it when the exiles returned and rebuilt the temple.

And it might not have been either of those options, but we know whoever God used to pin this psalm,

he led them by the Holy Spirit, and we trust and heed these words.

Because the author is unknown, it makes the dating of Psalm 119 difficult.

We could easily place it several places throughout our journey,

but we've placed it here because Israel has come to a crossroads.

Solomon has died, and the monarchy and country are about to split.

Across the pages of Scripture, we've continually read God's call for the Israelites to obey his statutes and commands.
