| 0:49.0 | And hopefully, you also noticed the overarching theme of delighting in God's word. |
| 0:55.0 | I would love for us to be able to break down this chapter, but because of its link, |
| 1:00.0 | we will spend our time on some contextual information that helps us understand the chapter better, |
| 1:06.0 | as well as some of the overarching themes that point our hearts to Jesus. |

| 1:15.0 | Some scholars believe David penned it over the course of his life, |
| 1:19.0 | while others think Ezra or Nehemiah might have written it when the exiles returned and rebuilt the temple. |
| 1:26.0 | And it might not have been either of those options, but we know whoever God used to pin this psalm, |
| 1:33.0 | he led them by the Holy Spirit, and we trust and heed these words. |
| 1:38.0 | Because the author is unknown, it makes the dating of Psalm 119 difficult. |
| 1:44.0 | We could easily place it several places throughout our journey, |
| 1:48.0 | but we've placed it here because Israel has come to a crossroads. |
| 1:53.0 | Solomon has died, and the monarchy and country are about to split. |
| 1:59.0 | Across the pages of Scripture, we've continually read God's call for the Israelites to obey his statutes and commands. |
