I want to go ahead and warn you that our chapters today and tomorrow are filled with some difficult events that will raise a lot of questions.

But we don't need to fear or shy away from them because the Bible itself gives us great insight into our great God.

All that we've learned in Scripture these past few months provide a foundation to help us discern applications about God's character and our Savior.

Today, we come to Judges chapter 16 through 18.

First, we will wrap up the life of Samson, and then we will move into a new section of the book.

Yesterday reminded us that Samson wasn't the hero we sometimes make him out to be.

Samson focused more on self gratification and revenge rather than following God wholeheartedly.

We see this pattern continue in chapter 16.

One of Samson's greatest weaknesses was women.

Two more Philistine women cause him issues as we read today.

The first was a prostitute, but it is the second woman, Delilah, that traps Samson and brings him down.

They had a dysfunctional relationship from the start.

Samson was infatuated with Delilah while Delilah was infatuated with money.

She was willing to trap Samson for monetary gain while Samson was willing to use her for physical satisfaction.

Samson's weakness towards women blinded him to Delilah's manipulation.

Her infatuation with the source of his strength should have been a red flag.
