0:40.0	Ezekiel and Daniel led us through the exilic years, and now as we begin Ezra, we begin
0:46.8	the post-exilic period.
0:49.8	Over the next two weeks, we will see God's faithfulness and plan of redemption continue
0:55.4	to unfold as we complete the Old Testament.
0:59.0	Today, we focus our time on Ezra chapters 1 through 3 and Psalm 137.
1:06.9	As we do with all books, let's talk about some context for Ezra.
1:11.8	Ezra was a scribe and priest descended from Aaron's son, Eliezer.
1:18.4	Ezra was born in captivity, but he was a devout Levite, who knew the law and was faithful
1:25.2	to share it with his people, both in Babylon and eventually in Jerusalem at the newly built
1:31.3	temple.
1:32.3	It's believed that he wrote first and second Chronicles as well as Ezra and Nehemiah.
1:39.5	In the Hebrew Old Testament, Ezra and Nehemiah are actually one book.
