Summary
Mike began vocational ministry in 1999 as a student ministries and college pastor at Mariners Church in Irvine, Calif and currently serves a teaching pastor at Journey Church in Nashville, TN. Mike also taught at Rock Harbor (Costa Mesa, Calif.) and Mariners’ Mission Viejo, Calif. campus. He served as the senior Pastor at EV Free Fullerton and founded the VOX Community and podcast (now Voxology). Mike has published five books: The Jesus of Suburbia (2006), Why Guys Need God (2008), Death By Church (2009), Why the Bible Matters (2010), and Astonished ( 2014). He holds a bachelor of science degree from Miami University and a master of arts in philosophy of religion and ethics from the Talbot School of Theology.
Mike is the only person I’ve ever met who started a church that grew out of his podcast, and he currently is an avid podcaster and a pastor. So, he is the perfect dialogue partner to talk about a question I’ve been thinking through: what is a healthy ecclesiology of podcasting?

| 0:16.4 | at Journey Church outside of Nashville, Tennessee. He's also the host of a podcast. It's very similar |
| 0:21.8 | to Theology Narrow. It's called boxology. It was formerly called the box podcast. If you have not |
| 0:26.8 | listened to Mike Erie's podcast, I think you would really enjoy it if you enjoy this one at all. |
| 0:31.2 | Mike is just a brother from another mother. We I don't think we've ever hung out in person, |
| 0:35.4 | but we've known each other for years online. You know, he's endorsed some of my books. I've had |
| 0:40.1 | them on the podcast before. We chit chat back and forth not as much as I would like, but periodically. |
| 0:44.3 | He's just a great, great honest dude, curious dude. And I'm excited for you to listen to him. |
| 0:49.0 | So please welcome back to the show. The one and only Mike Erie |
| 1:01.7 | Dude, you're well as guests that want to have on like every other week. I don't. |
| 1:05.6 | It's been a while since you've been on and that's so unfortunate. It's totally on me. I'm sorry. |
| 1:10.0 | Listen, it's when two when two guys who are similarly good looking and similarly intelligent |
| 1:19.5 | I mean, I get that there's a bit of a like the opposite of magnetism. I get that. I get that. |
| 1:25.2 | And so I understand I'm threatening in some ways and it's okay. I'm totally fine with that. |
| 1:32.0 | We don't have a YouTube channel and now you're seeing the reason why. |
| 1:38.8 | So last time we talked, you were in exile back in Ohio. |
| 1:44.0 | Well, you're down in Nashville now past past strain or part of a, I forget your role. |
| 1:50.8 | You guys are teaching pastor. How'd that come about? Teaching pastor. Yeah. Oh my goodness. |
| 1:56.1 | So like a lot of us, I had done the mega church thing and had done it according to the values |
| 2:05.3 | and systems that were kind of handed down and realized I was just not a very good one. |
