| 0:49.0 | But when we think about Jesus and why He came, when we think about the joy of the cross and the empty tomb, |

| 1:01.0 | We will see that yet again in chapters 9 through 12 today. |
| 1:05.0 | In these chapters, Solomon will compare wisdom and folly and speak about the fleeting nature of life. |
| 1:13.0 | With each example, we will be reminded that everything under the sun is meaningless. |
| 1:19.0 | But Solomon, also known as the preacher in this book, won't end on a meaningless note. |
| 1:25.0 | He will conclude the matter by teaching us that fearing the Lord and keeping His commands is our calling and the only thing that will bring meaning to our lives while here on earth. |

| 1:40.0 | Chapter 9 has just 18 verses, but they are packed with practical insight for the reader. |
| 1:46.0 | Solomon begins by reminding us of the certainty of death. |
| 1:51.0 | Twice, he says, there is one fate for everyone. |
| 1:55.0 | Whether you are righteous or wicked, everyone will face the same fate, death. |
| 2:01.0 | Until that time, Solomon tells the righteous to enjoy life as a gift from God and live in a way that is an act of worship. |
