Tiffany here, and today we begin Paul's second letter to the Corinthians.

In this letter, Paul gives a beautiful defense for the gospel, a defense of his own apostleship,

and how believers are called to minister.

As we always do, we will talk about context briefly, and then look chapters 1 through 3.

So 12 to 15 months have passed since Paul sent his first letter to the Corinthians while

he was still in Ephesus.

Since that time, he had visited the Corinthians briefly, and he references this visit in this

second letter.

After his visit, which he described as a painful visit in 2nd Corinthians 2, he traveled

to Macedonia, and it is from there that he wrote this letter.

We will see two overarching themes in this letter.

The first is Paul's defense of his ministry while sharing his suffering in the ministry.

But though ministry is hard, it is done by the power of the Spirit, and it is worth it
