With the exception of Job, we've stuck to the order of the first eight books of the Bible. But this is the month

that changes, my friends. As we begin first and second Samuel, we will also read the various

psalms that correspond to the events within each book. And we will also read the similar accounts

We are going to talk about the context for both First and Second Samuel today.

Which is actually fitting because when these books were written, they were one long

narrative in Hebrew. It wasn't until the Hebrew Bible was translated into Greek that they split

Samuel into two books. They broke it in a logical way, though. First Samuel is predominantly
