1:49.0 | I love the art of it. I've been friends with Henry Diltz, the famous rock artist and musical artist photographer. |
1:58.0 | And just I admire so much of the work that these people do. What got you from photography into the whole idea of sayonce and the spiritualist movement and the search for actoplasm? |
2:10.0 | Well, I was working as a photojournalist in upstate New York and then I started to do some public relations photography. |
2:21.0 | And my real love has always been documentary work. And so while I was paying the bills, I was looking for a project that could be really creative with. |
2:32.0 | And so I thought, oh, why don't I just try to make a short project about Lily Dale, which is the world's largest spiritualist community? |
2:42.0 | And I knew about Lily Dale because I grew up nearby in Buffalo, New York. And Lily Dale's about an hour drive away. And when I was a teenager, my family had this really intense experience with the medium there. |
