We've got to talk about a disturbing topic, though, out of the gate.

So I wrote a book back in 2015, 16, called You Will Be Made to Care.

It's a phrase I coined.

Back during the debates before the O'Burgerfeld decision of the Supreme Court,

there was a lot of discussion among people on the right of what would happen as gay marriage in the country advanced.

And I was running the website at the time, redstate.com.

A young man posted a comment to something I had written about the harassment, particularly of people of faith in this country, if they decided they couldn't because of their faith go along with it.

And he said, I don't care about the issue.

This is his comment was, I don't care about the issue.

I don't care about people of the same sex getting married.

It doesn't affect me.

I don't care about it. It's not going to affect me. I don't care about this issue. I wish you'd stop talking about it. And I responded to him and I said, you will be made to care. Do you understand you will be made to care? You can say you don't care, but you will not be allowed neutrality on the issue. You will be forced to take a position whether you want to or not.

And if you pick the wrong position, you will be treated as bad.

You will be treated as an enemy.

I never intended the phrase to take off.

My friend Sonny Bunch has suggested it really is you will be made to shut up,

but that's not really true. When you look at someone like Jack Phillips, the baker in Colorado,

who they're trying to put him out of business because he's willing to shut up about the topic

and not participate in the topic, but that's not good enough. They want him to objectively conform.
